NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: North Wilkesboro Review

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race at North Wilkesboro results are in. It was a very entertaining race, though nothing crazy out of the ordinary took place. The race was held earlier today at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina, and it added to an interesting weekend for NASCAR. It has already seen rain delays and a driver belly flop into a pit road.

Corey Heim finished in first place, putting up 49 points in his Number 11 Toyota Tundra, earning first place for Tricon Garage. In second place was Grant Enfinger, putting up 36 points in his number nine Chevrolet Silverado, and third place was Layne Riggs, who put up 40 points in a No.38 Ford F-150. Heim dominated, and this was his third truck win of the year. This was a solid bounce back for him, as his crash at Darlington Raceway on May 10th was his first finish outside of the top 10 in any race all season. There was a restart on Lap 186 of 250, and he took this chance to take the lead from Jake Garcia of Thorsport Racing and never looked back. This is the eighth win of the 21-year-old's young career and his first win at North Wilkesboro. His truck was also severely submerged in water yesterday during the rain delay, this was a great bounce back for him.

It was a good day for Tricon Garage, as Heim’s teammate Brenden Queen finished in fourth place, in his number one Toyota Tundra. This was his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut, and he performed exceptionally well for a newcomer to the event. Queen was proud of his performance, seemingly just grateful to have the opportunity to compete in this race but was also well aware of some of his rookie mistakes.

“I never knew if I would get this opportunity,” Queen said. “Oh man, I can’t believe it. We got that speeding penalty. I thought I was conservative on the lights, and it just got us- rookie mistake.” He seemed to be in good spirits after his first time, and it was a great day for Tricon Garage. It was a very entertaining event, and we look forward to Friday’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200.
