NFC North Quarterback Situation

NFL

The NFC North quarterbacks have proven that sometimes the second quarterback needs to step up. The Minnesota Vikings suffered an injury to their hopeful franchise quarterback and a backup quarterback had to step up. The Green Bay Packers also lost their starter but appear to be in good hands. This division has shown that it can respond to adversity. The teams have shown that injuries will not destroy them.

Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions seem to be the team in this division to have lots of faith in their quarterback. Jared Goff has a strong connection with his wide receivers and is a very talented quarterback. Last season, he logged a career-high 30 passing touchdowns.  However, he needs to take care of the ball better. He has four interceptions in this season alone. This needs to change if the Detroit Lions are going to keep their faith in him.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears had the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and selected Caleb Williams. Many think that he is the most talented quarterback in his draft class.  While he is talented, he needs to realize that the things that he used to do in college like scramble and get lots of yards, are not always going to work in the NFL. His stats have been terrible in his first three starts. In those three starts, he clocked in two touchdowns and four interceptions. He will need to improve and stop taking risks if he wants to make it in this league.

Green Bay Packers

Jordan Love has silenced all the haters with the way he has improved as a quarterback. Green Bay Packers fans used to hate him and now they love him.  However, against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week One of the 2024 season, Jordan Love suffered a sprain in the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. This meant that Malik Willis would have to step up in Week Two against the Colts and he did. He led them to a 16-10 win, where he threw for 122 yards and a touchdown.  He also beat the Tennessee Titans in Week Three. The Packers have proved that they can respond to adversity well.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings suffered one of the most heartbreaking injuries when the rookie that they drafted, J.J. McCarthy tore his meniscus. He then decided to go into surgery to repair it, which meant that he could not play for the 2024 season. However, Sam Darnold has stepped up and delivered. Sam Darnold is 3-0 as a starter.  Among the teams that he has beaten are the San Francisco 49ers which made it to the Super Bowl last year. It’s safe to say that the Minnesota Vikings are in good hands this season.

The NFC North quarterbacks have proven that sometimes the backup needs to step up. Sam Darnold stepped up for the Vikings. Malik Willis stepped up for the Packers. It’s safe to say that this division responds well to adversity. Throughout the season, we will continue to see how well they respond to adversity.
