Nico Collins Injury Update
Nico Collins, the NFL’s leading yard receiver, is unexpected to play this week against the New England Patriots. In last week’s game against the Bills, he went down in the first half and was sent to the medical tent before heading to the locker room for further evaluation. Just recently, his listing was “day-to-day” in terms of whether he’ll play, but sadly for Texans fans, that listening has been downgraded to “week-to-week.” The injury to his hamstring seems to have been worse than expected, and we will likely know more as time progresses.
Collins so far has had a career season, with 32 receptions for 567 yards, and currently sits as the NFL’s lead yard receiver. In May, he signed a three-year, 72-million-dollar extension with the Texans, providing CJ Stroud with a strong, consistent weapon for the duration. However, With Nico Collins unavailable, it’s time to start asking how the Houston Texans will respond to a significant blow to their offensive weapons. First, it’s important to note this team has one of the best-receiving corps in the league.
Nico Collins is now on the injury reserve and will likely miss at least four games due to his hamstring injury. Now we turn to Tank Dell and Stefan Diggs, who will now step up to fill the void the Collins created. Both receivers have had a great season so far and are dependable, with arguments over who the best receiver on the team is, now is their chance to show it. Collins will miss the next four matchups against the New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, and New York Jets, respectively. It is likely he will return during the Week Ten matchup against the Detroit Lions.
