Nikola Jokić Makes NBA History Against the Wizards

NBA

Last night in a 130-110 win over the Washington Wizards, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić made NBA history. Jokić is the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double with fifteen plus points, rebounds, and assists on 100 percent shooting from the field. This was the Nuggets’ first game since the All-Star break, and they came up big after losing their last three games. Denver is tied for third in the Western Conference with a 37-19 record, they sit two and a half games back from the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first seed.

This season, Nikola Jokić has played in 54 games. He’s averaging around 26 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, a steal and a block a game. Jokić has recorded 45 double-doubles, and 16 triple-doubles this season. “The Joker” only trails Domantas Sabonis who has 19 triple-doubles this season. While Michael Porter Jr. led the team in scoring, and Kyle Kuzma led all scorers, Jokić was definitely the star of last night’s matchup. Who knows when we’ll see this feat be accomplished again, since the NBA was formed in 1949, we haven’t seen a player attain these stats on a perfect field goal percentage.

After the game, Nikola Jokić said, "Like I always say, it's just something that after I finish my career, it's a legacy milestone. I'm going to look back and say, 'That's a really cool thing to do.’” He also said this when it comes to what he wants the Nuggets to focus on in the last 26 games of the season, "Just to get better, when the playoffs come, just to be mentally prepared for what we need to do, and that's gonna be our main goal." Can the Denver Nuggets clinch the first seed in the Western Conference? Will Nikola Jokić win another MVP Award?
