Nuggets Champion Has Resigned
The Nuggets have signed Reggie Jackson as he picked up his 5.25-million-dollar player option to return to the team. The 13-year veteran has spent the last year and a half with the Denver Nuggets. Last season, for the second time in his career, Jackson played in all 82 games, starting in 23 of them. Jackson played 22 minutes per game, averaging 10.2 points per game, 1.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He shot 43 percent from the field, 36 percent from deep, and 80 percent at the free throw line. Jackson has a player option for the summer.
Jackson ran it back with the defending champions as they were the two-seed in the West and won 57 games in the regular season before the three-seed Minnesota Timberwolves defeated them in seven games in the Western Conference Semifinals. Jackson scored a season-best 35 points to go along with five rebounds and 13 assists in a 113-104 win against his previous team, the Los Angeles Clippers. In the playoffs, Jackson was not in the Nuggets rotation and averaged 3.2 points, one rebound, and 1.4 assists while shooting 28 percent from the field and 30 percent from deep. He played around ten minutes per game in the postseason.
The Nuggets champion was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder where he spent his first four and a half years of his career. He also made the finals with the Thunder in 2012. Rejoining the Nuggets, Jackson brings championship experience and a veteran presence to the locker room. The 34-year-old can get hot and bring a scoring punch off the bench. He can create his own shot and has had moments in the playoffs where he has stepped up with a big performance. Jackson is a bench piece who can play minutes as the backup point guard.
