Packers vs Rams Preview

NFL

Jordan Love and Matthew Stafford face off this Sunday in a weekend battle in California. Coming off a tough loss to the Vikings, the Packers will look to bounce back and defeat the Rams. The Rams are battered by injuries and had a tough loss in Chicago, where the Bears’ excellent defense stifled their offense. Both teams have high-powered offenses when they are healthy, and the defenses will need to step up to help their teams earn the win.

Jordan Love’s first game back from injury was good for the situation he was thrown into. The Packers should have rested him one more week against an excellent Vikings team. He had a rough first half, with two interceptions and only one touchdown, but he bounced back nicely with three touchdown passes and only one interception in the second half. The Packers barely lost when they were down 28 points, and with Love a little more confidence this week, the Pack can defeat the Rams. Matthew Stafford has had an alright season so far, even with the Rams only winning one game and having three losses. His season stats so far are only two touchdowns and two interceptions, while Love, only playing two games, has six touchdowns and four interceptions. Stafford is without his top targets Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams is the only player with any decent offensive production. If the Packers can shut down Kyren Williams early and force Stafford to throw it, the defense can stifle the Rams and allow the Packers offense to get to work.

The Pack has had the Rams’ number for the past couple of years, and last year, the turning point of the Packers season was when Love efficiently handled the Rams at Lambeau Field. With Malik Willis’ help, the Packers avoided a 0-4 hole, and the Rams will try to get their season back on track this week. If Love focuses on limiting turnovers, running the ball, and taking what the defense gives him, they should have no problem winning. However, something can happen on any given Sunday, and the Packers will need to ensure they secure the win.
