Rams Aim to Boost Playoff Seeding in Clash Against Seahawks

NFL

As the last week of the NFL regular season is upon us, there are several playoff spots that are up for grabs still in both conferences. Although the NFC West Division has already been clinched by the Rams last week after a win over the Cardinals, the Rams still have playoff positioning to consider. They are currently slated to get the fourth seed, but they do have the opportunity to move up to the third seed in the NFC playoff picture. So, what are the keys to both teams winning this game?

Rams: Let Matthew Stafford Let it Fly

Matthew Stafford, with Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp at his disposal, has been very effective this season. Stafford has thrown for over 3,700 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions this season, so the Rams in this game need to let Stafford do what he wants. In the playoffs, the Rams will look for the pass to set up the run. If the Rams can stretch this defense out, it will open up lanes for Kyren Williams to run. The last time the Rams played the Seahawks, Kyren Williams got 22 carries but wasn’t very effective, which resulted in Matthew Stafford having a low completion percentage. If the Rams can have an effective air raid, then they can find balance with the running game later in the game.

Seahawks: Limit the Turnovers

The last time the Seahawks played the Rams, they had several chances to win that game, but Geno Smith threw several interceptions that left the Seahawks just short. If they had won that game, then they would have had a chance at the division title this week. Although the Seahawks can’t make the playoffs, Geno Smith still has a lot to play for. With multiple contract incentives at stake for Geno Smith for getting the Seahawks to 10 wins, 4,282 passing yards, and above a 69.75% completion percentage, Geno Smith has a lot to play for in this game. With a lot of money at stake for Geno Smith and a chance to spoil the Rams’ playoff seeding, I’d expect Geno to let it fly in this game. If they can avoid the turnovers that ruined their playoff chances last time, the Seahawks may be able to come away with the road win.
