Russell Wilson Released by the Broncos

NFL

Yesterday afternoon, it was announced that the Denver Broncos and quarterback Russell Wilson have parted ways. After just two seasons, the Broncos informed Wilson that they would release Wilson at the start of the league year on March 13th. As a result of Russell’s release will have to eat 39 million dollars but will avoid spending 37 million guaranteed from Wilson for the 2025 NFL regular season. It’s going to certainly be interesting where the eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback signs next.

Russell Wilson played 15 games with the Broncos last season. He completed 66 percent of his passes and threw for 3,070 passing yards with 26 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. His best game of the 2023 season was early on in Week Two. During a 35-33 loss against the Washington Commanders, Wilson went 18 for 32 with 308 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. In eight of the 15 games he played, the eight-time Pro-Bowler threw less than 200 receiving yards. By the looks of it for the time being, Jarrett Stidham will look to be the new face of this Denver Broncos franchise.

General manager George Paton and coach Sean Payton said in a joint statement, "On behalf of the Broncos, we thank Russell for his contributions and dedication to our team and community while wishing him the best as he continues his career. As we move forward, we are focused on building the strongest team possible for the 2024 season and beyond. We are excited to improve this offseason and will have the flexibility to get better through the draft and free agency." Where will Russell Wilson sign next?
