Seattle Outplays Philadelphia on Monday Night

NFL

While the Eagles may be a ridiculously talented football team, this is their third lost game in a row. With the playoffs steadily approaching this is not a good sign for Philadelphia as the way they are currently playing is not going to be acceptable going into the postseason. They are going to have to get things together if they want to win their NFC East division, let alone a playoff game. With this loss, the Eagles fall to 10-4 on the season and now sit second in the NFC East division. The Seahawks on the other hand are going to have to keep playing football like this if they want to claim a wild-card spot for the playoffs. With this win, they improved to 7-7 on the season and stand third in their NFC West division. Next week the Eagles will head back to Philadelphia to take on their divisional rival New York Giants, while the Seahawks will head to Tennessee to take on the Titans. Let’s take a look at how Seattle got this win.

This Monday night football matchup started strong for Philadephia as their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, ran into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown at the end of their first drive. This touchdown, plus the extra point by kicker Jake Elliott, put the Eagles up 7-0 early. Philadelphia would extend their lead a few possessions later as their offense set up a 27-yard field goal for Elliot. After Elliot made the field goal the score of the game was 10-0 Philadelphia. Seattle would be able to put their first points on the board at the end of their next drive as kicker Jason Myers knocked down a 26-yard field goal to put the Seahawks down a touchdown heading into the locker room.

Seattle tied the game up 10-10 when they came out of halftime as running back Kenneth Walker III scored a 23-yard touchdown. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the game would not stay tied long as Hurts scored another rushing touchdown when the Eagles got the ball back to put Philadelphia up 17-10. Early in the fourth quarter, Myers would knock down another field goal, this one from 43 yards out, to put Seattle down four 17-13. The Eagles offense would make their first big mistake later in the fourth quarter as Hurts threw an interception, a pass intended for wide receiver Quez Watkins, into the hands of Seahawks safety Julian Love. While Seattle wasn’t able to turn this defense into offense, they did score a few drives later as quarterback Drew Lock connected with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba for an incredible 29-yard touchdown to give Seattle its first lead of the game 20-17. The Eagles would have one more drive to make something happen, but this drive too would end in another interception by Seattle safety Julian Love.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock went twenty-two for thirty-three on his passes in this game, finishing having thrown for 208 yards and one touchdown. Running back Kenneth Walker III had nineteen carries for 86 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver DK Metcalf led the Seahawks in receiving yards in the game with five catches for 78 yards, but wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had Seattle’s only receiving touchdown in the game. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed nearly half of his pass attempts in the game, going seventeen for thirty-one on passes and throwing two interceptions. Hurts also led the Eagles in rushing yards on Monday night with thirteen carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns. A.J. Brown was Hurts’ top receiving target on the night with five receptions for 56 yards.
