Should the Current Giants Management Continue in Their Roles?

NFL

The Giants have had a brutal season and have officially been eliminated from playoff contention for this year. They were the first to be eliminated, and they are not even in the hunt to be a possible contender at this point. There are many factors contributing to why the Giants are in their current state. One of the main reasons was the team itself, but with Daniel Jones gone, it seems to have made some difference. The other half of the reasons have everything to do with how the team's management is being run.

Brian Daboll is currently the Giants head coach, but no one is sure for how much longer with the way things have been going for this team. Daboll has been with the Giants for the last three seasons. He’s done everything he can to try and make this team look good, but ultimately, it's backfiring on him and general manager Joe Schoen. They have done a lot for this team. However, a lot of it hasn’t been the very best for the Giants.

It’s all in the decisions that the two of them have been making. They have let really fantastic players go and they have put in players that should not even have the chance to be put in. The only exception to any decisions that have been made for this year is this year's draft class. They did a fantastic job in that area but other than that, the Giants have suffered since the moment former head coach Tom Coughlin and former quarterback Eli Manning retired several years ago.

Schoen had offers thrown his way this season and he didn’t take any of them. They had the trade deadline come and the Giants were silent, they didn’t make any moves to make any changes to fix this offensive line, the quarterback position, or anything else. Instead, he let Saquon Barkley walk away and join the Eagles and Jones was released, sure by his own choice, but left to go sign with the Minnesota Vikings. Two teams that are doing well this season and they are going to the playoffs while the Giants will sit at home again this year.

Daboll hasn’t been much help, either. He’s been the one on the field with his coaching staff making these calls. He is made out to be a great coach and is because he did manage to get the Coach of the Year award several years ago after he signed on with the Giants to coach their team. However, in reality, it's been a struggle. He’s only really ever been an offensive coach, and it shows. Look at the Giants’ defensive line; not much has been done with that. It may be a little bit of work, but it should not be Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns all of the time. One of the best things he ever really did was help Josh Allen become better in his position, and now Jones has also moved on.

The Giants coaching staff and management really need a huge shake-up after this season. They can’t keep going like this. They are losing their fans' faith all over the place since they have fallen to the bottom of nearly everything in the league. However, on the bright side, they do currently have the first pick of the first round for the 2025 NFL Draft. That said, hopefully, there will be some kind of change by then or they will make the right decisions.
