Should the Giants Pick Up One More Wide Receiver?
The Giants have really been trying to build a top-tier offensive line for the 2025 season. They already have a few stars that could really help build the offensive line for this coming season. So far, Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and several others will be returning to fill the position of wide receiver. However, there have been a few thoughts tossed around about who the Giants could draft and potentially pick up. There are several open-top free agents left in free agency. There is a good possibility that the Giants could pick up someone else before they head to the draft. They’ve already picked up several decent players regarding quarterbacks, receivers, and other areas on the defensive line. However, it wouldn’t hurt if the Giants decided to go for one more receiver. One of the remaining agents that is still on the list is Amari Cooper, the former Buffalo Bill and Dallas Cowboys receiver.
Cooper has been in the league for ten years, beginning his career in 2015. He was drafted fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders. Since then, he’s been traded to the Dallas Cowboys, then the Cleveland Browns, and most recently the Buffalo Bills. Over the course of his career, he’s already played for four different teams.
Cooper is considered to already be a top receiver around the league. His rookie stats consisted of 1,000 yards, six touchdowns, and a Pro-Bowl selection, all in his first season. Since then, he has been pretty quiet but done the best he can to keep things up. The former Pro-Bowler’s record is 711 receptions for 10,033 yards and scoring 64 touchdowns over his ten-year career.
Cooper may be a veteran in the league at this point, but that does not mean the Giants can’t look into him. The stats that they are looking for in a receiver, and the former Bill can pull off decent plays. He went with his former team last season to the playoffs, where he was able to help out during the game. Cooper was able to run the ball down the field, and he was able to create a memorable moment. He caught a pass from Josh Allen and then threw it back to Allen, who ran it in for a touchdown. It would be good to see this 30-year-old make a play like this again, but this time to either Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston, depending on who ends up on the field as the starter this season.
Cooper is currently still a top free agent who has yet to be picked up by any team. He would be a decent asset on the offensive line for the Giants. They would have a better shot at making things look good again if they added him to the roster. It would also help the Giants put themselves back together again for the most part and prove that they are still the same old Giants that can get the wins. After having six not great seasons, it’s time to pull the veterans in and rebuild the Giants to be bigger and better than ever.
