Speedster Winger Agrees to Deal with the Kings

NHL

Entering last season in the final year of a three-year extension with the Oilers, electric winger Warren Foegele showcased why he has developed into one of the league's most potent playmakers. As Foegele finished last season with 20 goals, 21 assists, 41 points, and one power-play goal, he was a key contributor to the Oilers reaching their first Stanley Cup Finals since 2006. Foegele maintained his scoring output throughout the postseason, contributing three goals, five assists, and eight points as the Oilers were only one win away from the Stanley Cup. Now, the Los Angeles Kings have signed Foegele to a three-year deal, worth $10.5 million.

The Carolina Hurricanes selected Foegele with the 67th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Draft. Before entering the NHL, Foegele, 28, spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, where he recorded 40 goals, 71 assists, and 111 points. After joining the Hurricanes for the 2017–18 season, Foegele made a name for himself as a dependable and dynamic winger. With his quickness, relentless forechecking, and defensive accountability, he was a great addition to Carolina's roster. Foegele's importance grew during the next seasons, and he established a reputation for being useful in all circumstances, including the penalty kill and pivotal late-game situations. In his career, Foegele has recorded 80 goals, 83 assists, 163 points, and three power-play goals in 431 games played.

For the second time in his career, Foegele participated in all 82 games during last season with the Oilers, setting a new career best with 20 goals. In four multi-goal games last season, Foegele's greatest effort came on December 31st against the Anaheim Ducks, when he finished with two goals, three assists, five points, and six shots on goal. Foegele will surely give the Kings’ winger group an extra lift as they go into the upcoming season with great hopes. In addition, provides the Kings another scoring option to help them contend with the other elite teams in the Western Conference.
