Stars Get Road Victory Over Golden Knights to Even Series at 2-2

NHL

Game four between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights was a crucial game for both teams' playoff fates. For Vegas, they were looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead on their home ice. Meanwhile, Dallas was in desperate search of a clutch road win to even the series up at two. Ultimately, Dallas came up with the big road win by a score of 4-2.

For the most part, Vegas dominated the first period, as they were looking to bounce back from the devastating overtime loss, they suffered in game three. The Golden Knights fans were bringing the energy early on, and Vegas even got on the board first with a Michael Amadio goal to break the 0-0 tie. Just over three minutes later, Evgenii Dadonov tied the game up with a goal off an assist from Ryan Suter. The team would take the 1-1 tie into the locker room.

In contrast to the first period, where the total shots were 14-8 in favor of Vegas, the second period was quite the opposite. Dallas came out in the second frame and outshot the Golden Knights 17-6, which resulted in a favorable period for the Stars. However, it did not start out well for the Stars, as Golden Knights superstar Jack Eichel broke the 1-1 tie with his third goal of the series to give Vegas a 2-1 lead early in the second period. After that, it was all Dallas. Wyatt Johnston tied the game back up at two with a power play goal assisted by Matt Duchane and Tyler Seguin. Then, after constantly peppering Vegas goaltender Logan Thompson with shots all period, the Stars took the lead for the first time in the game with a goal by Ty Dellandrea with just over two minutes to go in the period.

During the third, Dallas was just trying to hold on to the momentum they gained in the second. However, Vegas would not go down without a fight as they doubled the Stars' shots on goal in the third period. Thankfully for Dallas, Jake Ottinger saved all of those Vegas shots in the third period, including a flurry at the end as Vegas was on the power play. Eventually, Roope Hintz was able to score the empty net goal to put the game away for good. This was a massive win for the Stars to get into enemy territory to turn the series into a best of three. The important game-five swing game will be back in Dallas on Wednesday as the Stars look to carry the momentum they have gained from the last two games. As for Vegas, they are looking to regroup after losing back-to-back games at home. A home team has yet to win a game in this series, and the first team to break that trend will gain a massive advantage toward winning the series.
