Steelers Take On Chiefs on Christmas Day

NFL

After falling to the Ravens on Saturday, the Steelers look to quickly turn the page as they take on the Chiefs on Christmas Day. The Chiefs are coming off a win over the Texans on Saturday. Both teams have a short week, playing two games within four days and three games within 11 days. The Chiefs have locked up the AFC West for the ninth straight year, while the Steelers are tied with the Ravens for first in the AFC North.

Since the Chiefs have not locked up the AFC, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs starters will be playing. Although Mahomes injured his ankle against the Browns, he played against the Texans this past weekend despite the injury. Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense will have a tough time against T.J. Watt, who is expected to play this weekend, and the Steelers’ defense. The Steelers’ defense comes into this game ranked as the number one scoring defense and number eight defense overall.

Russell Wilson comes into this game starting his ninth straight game with a record of 6-3, losing two straight. George Pickens is hopeful about playing this week after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. Over the last two weeks, Pat Freiermuth has caught two touchdowns, extending his season total to six. The Chiefs come into the game with a number four ranked defense in the NFL, hoping to shut down the Steelers’ offense.

This game is a part of a Christmas Day doubleheader streaming only on Netflix. The Steelers and Chiefs kick off at 1:00 p.m. EST, with the Texans and Ravens following at 4:30 p.m. The Chiefs can clinch the AFC’s number one seed on Wednesday with a win in Pittsburgh and secure the first-round bye in the playoffs. For the Steelers, they need to win out to win the AFC North unless Baltimore loses games as well. If the Steelers and Ravens end up with the same record at the end of the regular season, the tiebreaker would go to the Steelers since they have more conference wins.
