Steelers vs. Jets Week Seven Preview

NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers face off against the New York Jets in Week Seven, a matchup that is sure to be a close game. The Jets are looking to come back from their mere three-point loss against the Buffalo Bills, while the Steelers are eager to add to their growing number of victories this season. Additionally, there is rumored to be a substantial change in the Steelers lineup, with Russell Wilson making a return after being placed on injured reserve for the previous six games. Both teams have proven their dominance, and it will likely be a tough game for both teams this Sunday at Acrisure Stadium.

The Jets have a stacked roster, particularly on their offensive team. Aaron Rodgers, the starting quarterback, threw for 272 yards, a season-high for the veteran football player. Additionally, Garrett Wilson, a Jets wide receiver, has been dominant throughout the past few games, racking up 208 yards with 21 receptions, and even getting two touchdowns. Wilson has the second most catches in the league so far this season, with a total of 41 over the course of six games. While the Steelers’ offense can certainly hold their own, the team’s primary focus has been defense, which has struggled throughout the past few games. Though Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has indicated that he is focused on ensuring the offensive and defensive teams work through their mistakes, both units will need to bring their best efforts on Sunday, as the Jets’ offense has consistently applied pressure to its opponents.

Though the dominance of the Jets has been apparent, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a far better record than the New York team, only obtaining two losses opposed to the Jets’ four. In their Week Six game against the Raiders, the Steelers rushed for 183 yards, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, a considerable amount from any standpoint. Additionally, Russell Wilson, who has been injured, is rumored to be the starting quarterback this week, with former quarterback Justin Fields on the sidelines. Wilson’s experience, along with his technique, coupled with the rest of the offense as well as the defense, which is currently allowing the second lowest points per game, at an average of 14.3. Wilson will face off against fellow veteran Aaron Rodgers on Sunday evening in Week Seven of the regular season, a game that is certain to be close and entertaining.
