Steph vs. Sabrina, Will We See This Matchup Next Year?

NBA

The 2024 NBA All-Star weekend fell well under expectations, but Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu saved the weekend. The three-point competition between Steph and Sabrina was a step in a great direction for appreciation of the WNBA and hopefully, there will be more of these competitions in years to come. Possible Caitlyn Clark next year when she comes into the WNBA? Clark is known as one of the greatest college basketball players ever and is well known for shooting the three ball.

Curry defeated Sabrina 29- 26 and it came down to the final few shots. Curry who is known as the greatest three-point shooter ever was put to the test by a great shooter in Sabrina. Critics thought that this could end in a bad way for either player. If Curry lost this could have impacted the way we view him for his legacy and if Sabrina lost badly, some could say this was a dumb idea, but give credit to both players in agreeing to this great competition because the way it ended was one of the best outcomes possible. Sabrina showed how if you're a good shooter it doesn’t matter how far you shoot against what players. She gave many girls so much hope for their dreams to come true. The fact that she showed how she can compete against male athletes shows that there is room for females can compete with males.

Steph Curry demonstrated how he is still the best to ever shoot the three, finishing with 29 points in this contest. He outscored any other total from the regular three-point contest.  I think It will be unforgettable what he has done in the NBA. To replicate what he has done in his career will be a tough task to accomplish for the future of the NBA. Once Curry retires who will fill his shoes? Could it be no one? Will we see Sabrina try to beat Curry once again in San Francisco at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game?
