SummerSlam Match Card Predictions

WWE

After all the anticipation and waiting, the party of the summer is finally upon us. SummerSlam is here and is expected to be one of the most awesome SummerSlams of all time. Speaking of awesome, the most must-see superstar in WWE, The Miz, was announced as the host of this year’s SummerSlam. Being that The Miz was born and raised in Cleveland, he should get a warm welcome from this Cleveland crowd today. There are seven amazing matches on the card you do not want to miss tonight at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Logan Paul vs. L.A. Knight (United States Championship)

L.A. Knight has been a thorn in the side of Logan Paul for quite some time now all because Knight wants the United States Championship around his waist. These two have been jawing back and forth for a while and L.A. Knight even invaded Logan Paul’s house to have a pool party by himself. Last night on SmackDown during Logan Paul’s Homecoming, Paul unveiled a banner that’s going to hang from the rooftop during SummerSlam and it said “YEAH” on it. L.A. Knight then came out to say he was going to become champ and proceeded to take Logan Paul’s Prime truck for a ride out of the arena to raddle Logan Paul even more before their match. I believe this is L.A. Knight’s time to win his first singles title in WWE, so Knight should pick up the win here.

Prediction: L.A. Knight Defeats Logan Paul to Win the United States Championship

Nia Jax vs. Bayley (WWE Women’s Championship)

Ever since Nia Jax has been crowned Queen of the Ring, she has claimed that she is going to squash Bayley at SummerSlam. Jax loves to reminisce about the time that she took Bayley out of action back in 2017 and she plans to do the same at SummerSlam. Nia Jax also has Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton in her corner for the match. Last night on SmackDown, Jax presented Stratton with a new Money in the Bank briefcase because Bayley destroyed the original one. Nia made Tiffany promise not to cash in on her if she wins the WWE Women’s Championship. Regarding the match, while Bayley has had a solid reign as champion, it’s been a bit lackluster, so I believe Nia Jax should win this match.

Prediction: Nia Jax Defeats Bayley to Win the WWE Women’s Championship

Bron Breakker vs. Sami Zayn (Intercontinental Championship)

Bron Breakker has been absolutely ruthless since arriving on the scene in WWE. He’s become one of the most dangerous superstars on the entire roster. At Money in the Bank last month, Breakker came up short in his first bout against Sami Zayn. However, he didn’t stop there, ever since then, Breakker has been attacking Zayn from behind time and time again until Sami Zayn decided to give Bron Breakker a rematch at SummerSlam. Breakker claimed this past Monday on Raw that at Money in the Bank, he took Sami Zayn lightly and that he’s going to be even more dangerous come SummerSlam. This time around, I believe the result is going to be different. Bron Breakker is going to end the title reign of Sami Zayn and become the Intercontinental Champion.

Prediction: Bron Breakker Defeats Sami Zayn to Win the Intercontinental Championship

Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley (Women’s World Championship)

This match has been anticipated for a while now because of the long-term storytelling behind it. Both of them took each other out of action and they both want revenge on one another. Liv Morgan’s “Revenge Tour” has been pretty self-explanatory as she wants to take everything away from Rhea Ripley. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley wants revenge on Morgan for taking her Women’s World Championship as well as manipulating her Latino Heat, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio. Dominik claimed two weeks ago on Raw that he’s had enough of Liv Morgan after weeks of Morgan throwing herself at Dominik, trying to take him away from Rhea Ripley. This match will surely be physical as Rhea and Liv attempt to put each other away for good. It’s a tough sell on which one of them will win, but if I had to lean towards a side, I’d say Liv Morgan will retain due to an accidental distraction from “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, costing Rhea the match.

Prediction: Liv Morgan Defeats Rhea Ripley to Retain the Women’s World Championship Due to an Accidental Distraction From Dominik Mysterio

CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Seth Rollins as the Special Guest Referee)

Wrestling fans around the world can’t wait to see these two in the ring brawling it out with one another. Over half a year this match has been built up and now it’s finally here. Two weeks ago on Raw, Seth “Freakin” Rollins was announced as the special guest referee for the match. That will certainly add a little bit of spice to the mix as this match can go either way now. This past Monday, Seth Rollins laid down the law to CM Punk and Drew McIntyre stating that he’ll count to three when he wants to count to three and he’ll tap them out when he wants to tap them out. After CM Punk cost Drew McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship a total of three times, the time will come for McIntyre to get his revenge and defeat Punk at SummerSlam.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre Defeats CM Punk

Gunther vs. Damian Priest (World Heavyweight Championship)

The newly crowned King of the Ring Gunther gets his shot at the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at SummerSlam. The past two weeks when these two have met in the ring, they’ve brawled it out and have gotten physical after spitting fire at one another on the microphone. Gunther has been calling Priest “Street Trash” and Priest has been saying how at the end of SummerSlam, he’s going to remain “El Campeon.” This past Monday on Raw, Gunther took on Finn Balor in the main event. Gunther put Balor into a chokehold to secure the victory but didn’t let go after the match was over. Priest then came out to brawl with Gunther one last time before their match. I believe this match can go the distance with these two beating each other to a pulp. However, in the end, I believe it’s time for a new World Heavyweight Champion and his name is “The Ring General” Gunther.

Prediction: Gunther Defeats Damian Priest to Win the World Heavyweight Championship

Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa (WWE Undisputed Championship)

Of all the matches on the card, this bout has the longest storytelling to go with it and will most likely be the main event of SummerSlam. Ever since “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns lost the WWE Undisputed Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, his enforcer Solo Sikoa hasn’t stopped at anything to bring the championship back home to the Bloodline. Solo has recruited new members such as Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Jacob Fatu while taking out Jimmy Uso and “The Wiseman” Paul Heyman. Over the past few weeks, Solo has self-appointed himself as the new Tribal Chief. Last night on SmackDown, Solo claimed that Roman Reigns lost the title at WrestleMania because he was a “weak” Tribal Chief. Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu defeated DIY for the WWE Tag Team Championships last night as well to bring the tag titles back to the Bloodline. Solo claims he’ll do the same and bring the WWE Undisputed Championship back to the Bloodline. Does this mean we’ll see the return of the real “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns to get revenge on Solo for taking out “The Wiseman?” Will we see Jimmy Uso come back too? I believe Roman Reigns is going to return to turn on Solo and help Cody Rhodes retain the WWE Undisputed Championship to close out SummerSlam.

Prediction: Cody Rhodes Defeats Solo Sikoa to Retain the WWE Undisputed Championship with the Help of a Returning Roman Reigns
