Super Bowl Winning Linebacker Re-Signs with the Eagles

NFL

Following his breakout season with the Philadelphia Eagles in which he was one of the key factors in their Super Bowl run and victory, Zack Baun has re-signed with the Eagles on a three-year deal worth 51 million dollars, 34 million being guaranteed. Baun should be expected to make an instant impact and completely turn around the defensive prowess of the Eagles football team. It is rare to see a linebacker have such control over the outcome of football games he was able to completely shut down offenses all over the league the entire season, he even reminds me of how Luke Kuechly used to play and the impact he had on that Panthers defense.

Going forward it will be interesting to see how Baun follows up the career year and whether or not he will continue to be a bonafide breakout star in this league. He finished the Super Bowl with a team high seven tackles as well as a crucial interception that was a catalyst to the Philadelphia Eagles victory over the Chiefs. Drafted in 2020 by the New Orleans Saints, Baun wasn’t able to prove himself till last year which happened to be a contract year where he had to do so. I think he definitely proved to the league he can be the best player on the field at times and a game-changing talent across the board.

Going into the 2025-26 season with the Eagles, Baun will look to continue dominating offenses and showcasing the fact that he was overlooked and underutilized in the beginning of his career and this Pro Bowl superstar was looking to break out this whole time. We will see if this addition will lead to a playoff or possible Super Bowl run for the Eagles again. Given that he has experience in the big game, Baun could certainly take this team far. We will have to see how he pairs with the talents and assets surrounding him.
