Tennessee, Texas A&M Will Face Off in a Winner-Take-All Championship Game

After a 9-5 victory by Texas A&M Friday night, Tennessee bounced back Sunday to force a winner-take-all game three for the College World Series Championship. This is the second year in a row we’re seeing a Game Three in the Finals after LSU beat Florida State 18-4 to win their seventh championship. Something fun about this game is that neither team has won a national championship, so we are going to see a first-time champion after the game tonight ends.

There was a little less scoring in Sunday’s game, as the Vols took a 4-1 victory. On the mound, starter Drew Beam threw four innings, gave up one run, gave up three hits, walked one, and struck out seven. After Kirby Connell failed to get an out, Aaron Combs came in and threw four scoreless with five strikeouts and received the win. Nate Snead came in for the save in the ninth, closing the door for the Vols. All four runs were products of two-run shots. After being down one to nothing for most of the game, Dylan Dreiling took the lead in the seventh. Catcher and fan favorite Cal Stark hit one in the eighth, and the Vols didn’t look back.

This College World Series has been nothing short of exciting, and the final round going to a Game Three is the perfect way for this tournament to end. Similarly, Texas A&M and Tennessee have been the two best teams not only throughout the tournament but arguably the season as a whole, so both deserve to be here. The game will be on at seven p.m. Eastern time and will be broadcast on ESPN. Tennessee is currently the heavy favorite according to DraftKings, as they are -245 moneyline favorites. Texas A&M’s moneyline is +185. Another thing to point out is that the over is set at 10.5, which is a lot for a baseball game. Even though the Vols should be the favorite coming into this game, they shouldn’t be this big of favorites as the Aggies have a loaded roster as well. Either way, it’s going to be a good end to a great season for college baseball.
