Texans Signs 29-Year-Old Offensive Tackle

NFL

Many team players don’t stick with the same team forever. Mostly in the NFL, players are moved around all of the time.  That is definitely certain for offensive tackle Cam Robinson who has now officially played for three teams in the past two seasons. He played with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 to 2024 and was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in the middle of the season. Following that trade, at the end of the season, he hit the free agency market where he was picked up by the Houston Texans.

He has been playing in the NFL for eight seasons and it has not been an easy road for him at all. In 2017, he was the 34th overall pick for the Jaguars. The following year in 2018, he was out almost the entire season with a torn ACL. In 2020, he was ejected from a game for making contact with one of the referees. Two years after that in 2022, he signed a three-year contract extension worth 54 million dollars. In 2023, he missed out on eight games due to a four-game suspension that he received for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances and injury. The Jaguars were pretty much done with him in the final year of his contract in 2024.

However, when he was allowed to play he did very little for the team's defensive line. Over the course of the eight seasons, he has played in 101 games, He has had two solo tackles, no fumbles, and no assists. It’s almost as if he wasn’t playing and when he did, he was getting into trouble within the league. He was not a big help at all, even when he got traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

It’s a bit of a surprise that he was picked up by the Houston Texans. The contract that Houston Is signing with him is worth 14.5 million dollars. He is definitely something the Texans needed to fill the spot. People find ways to do better and he may just be one of them considering he is going into his ninth NFL season.
