The 76ers Might Be Getting a New Home

NBA

The Philadelphia 76ers are not going anywhere. There has been much discussion through the league and the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey about what to do about the famous basketball team's arena. The 76ers have been looking for a new area but are still looking for a new spot to land. A small amount of interest has been shown, but both states are currently debating whether they should come to their areas to promote more games and gain a better fan base.

The 76er's home area has resided in Philadelphia since they came about in 1996.  New Jersey wants them to come in and build their new arena in the Camden area. Many memories have been made at the Wells Fargo Arena. However, more support has yet to be shown from either side of the league and Camden residents.

New Jersey has been finding ways to lure the basketball team to the area. They are offering them deals to try and get them into the area. The most recent one is that New Jersey will provide up to 400 million dollars in tax credits and outline plans for them. However, they have been looking right next to New Jersey's Chinatown. They are looking to build what used to be the former Riverfront State Prison. It hasn’t been touched in years, and they are thinking of turning it into something else. The area is just slightly up from the Ben Franklin State Bridge.

All decisions have yet to be made. The 76ers know they are running out of time to decide, but for the time being, they will stay where they are. They hope to have a new stadium before the 2030-31 season starts. They are staying where they are at for next season. It may take a few years, but it’s only up to them to decide what they would like to do about their current arena. Both New Jersey and Philadelphia are in significant discussions of this upcoming project, which has no answers yet but is still being planned. The 76ers are taking their decision seriously and will consider all the options they are presented with.
