The Giants’ Areas of Needed Improvement

NFL

The Giants have had a rough couple of weeks. They have come so close to wins, but in the end, they have lost what they intended to go for. On the upside, the Giants have been putting their best foot forward and playing much better than they have in the past few years. However, they still have different areas of improvement. Here are the top three things the Giants must fix to win their upcoming games.

1. The Red Zone

The Giants have had a rough couple of weeks. However, they have found more and more ways to move the ball up the field. The offensive line has been in great shape and has put together something great. They have Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson, who have been able to run the ball down the field on various occasions. However, when the Giants get to the red zone, suddenly, they panic. Almost as if they don’t know what to do when they get there. The Giants need to work and keep their rhythm and the momentum they have going by the time they get there. The Giants must stop kicking for a field goal when things don’t go their way in the red zone. Sure, getting the points is better, but not on every drive.

2. The Defensive Line

The defensive line needs work. As hard as they try, the Giants must make better stops. Brian Burns, Dexter Lawrence, and Kayvon Thibodeaux should not be the only ones doing all the work. In last week's game, Burns did not put in everything he had, and we didn’t see much from him either. It was a bit of a struggle, leaving very few guys on the line to make the stops. The Giants need to move quicker so their opponents stop making first downs on third downs. Interceptions need to start being made to happen and gain the ball back at all costs. We haven’t seen an interception since Jason Pinnock last season. Many fumbles have happened since then, however.

3. Making Contact with the Ball

Daniel Jones has been throwing the ball more often than not this season. He has been running, but he needs to contact his receivers. He had gone two games without throwing an interception until last week's game against the Cowboys. However, there are certain players on the field that he cannot trust to catch the ball and make contact. Darius Slayton is one. The ball seems to slip through for every throw that Jones throws to him. Throwing to Nabers or Devin Singletary is a different story. The Giants need to look for the ball and keep their eyes on who Jones will throw it to.

The Giants have become a lot better than they have been for this season so far. They have come very close. Finding ways to make little mistakes will make them look more like the classic Super Bowl team that everyone knows. The Giants need to work harder. They have been very close to winning in recent games. They just need to do better than they have been.
