The Giants Pick Top Defensive End at Number Three

NFL

The Giants had the number three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They decided to go with Abdul Carter, who was coming out of Penn State. This was the last resort that the Giants had after both Cam Ward, who was drafted by the Tennessee Titans, and Travis Hunter went to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Giants are more than thrilled to add him to the roster after everything that he has done while he played in college.

The 21-year-old plays with some of the best pass rushes and gets in the middle of schemes very well. He can not be stopped and does everything that is asked of him on the field. Carter is six-feet-three and weighs 252 pounds. He will be a complete menace with the Giants this coming season. Carter is set to become a part of this Giants defense rebuild. He knows how to pester the opposing team's quarterback and cause distractions on the field.

He earned 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss in the 2024 season. During his final season at Penn State, Carter was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the  All-American team. His play was nothing but explosive. He has the skill set, attributes, and athleticism that are needed to make the Giants better defensively. His final stats at Penn State include: 23 sacks, 39.5 tackles for loss, 13 passes defended, five forced fumbles, and he had one interception.

Carter will now be joining both Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns on the defensive line. The three of them will now become an even better defensive trio then they were before. It won’t just be Burns and Lawrence doing the work. Having a defense like this, may make them Super Bowl bound for this year.

It will be something different and something that the Giants haven’t seen in years. They are stockpiling the talent that they are looking for. The Giants have already added a pass rusher and they will continue to be adding more depth to that defensive line. It’s going to be something exciting for Big Blue Nation.
