The Giants’ Takeaways From the Preseason Finale Loss Against the Jets

NFL

The New York Giants suffered another preseason loss against the New York Jets. The final score was 10-6. It could have been a better game, as the Giants made too many bad calls and errors. The Giants also had their backup offensive line damaged during the game, and several players went out with injuries. The preseason finale did not turn out so great for Big Blue in all aspects.

The frontline players for both teams started nowhere in the game. The only starter who actually got to play on the field was John Michael Schmitz. However, he had just returned to practice after being out with a shoulder injury. It did not take long for him to leave the field after one offensive series with a right ankle injury. Not only did he go out with an injury, but several others did too during the game. Timmy Horne was carted off with an Achilles injury, Evan Neal left the field with another ankle injury, and Ovie Oghoufo left with a hamstring injury. Plus, Mario Goodrich also suffered a hamstring injury, Jalen Mayfield was carted off in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury, and Darnay Holmes suffered a neck injury.

Despite the challenges, the Giants had some bright spots on the offensive front. Tommy DeVito went 14 of 27 passing for 103 yards and Dante Miller recorded 14 carries for 45 yards, which showcased the team's offensive potential. They managed to move the ball down the field effectively. The Giants’ success on offense gives fans reasons to be optimistic.

While the defense faced some challenges, they also showed determination. Despite their issues at practice, they managed to stop the Jets at times. K.J. Cloyd's 16 tackles, and two tackles for loss, were a standout performance. The defense's efforts, despite the odds, deserve the audience's support and encouragement.

This was both teams' preseason finale, and now they have to make some decisions. The Giants must reduce their 90-man roster to 53 before Tuesday night. The Giants will officially return on September 8th for the season opener at MetLife Stadium, where they will take on the Minnesota Vikings. They have a lot to work on before the season officially starts.
