The Ultimate Showdown: Royal Rumble 2025
The 2025 Royal Rumble kicked off with an electrifying women’s match. It began with Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan, setting a high-energy pace. Roxanne Perez emerged as the Iron Woman, showcasing incredible resilience. A major highlight was Alexa Bliss’ dramatic return after a two-year hiatus, which thrilled the fans. In the end, Charlotte Flair claimed victory, marking her second Rumble win after an 11-month recovery from a leg injury.
Following the women’s match, the WWE Tag Team Championships were on the line in a two out of three falls match between the Motor City Machine Guns taking on the champions DIY. The match was intensely competitive. DIY took the first fall, but MCMG quickly evened the score. The decisive third fall saw interference from the Street Profits, who attacked MCMG with crutches, allowing DIY to retain their titles. The Street Profits then attacked DIY after the match to show them they were not messing around anymore, and they wanted those Tag Titles.
Next, Cody Rhodes defended his WWE Championship in a brutal ladder match against Kevin Owens. Owens was relentless in his pursuit, focusing more on inflicting pain than securing the title. The match was filled with jaw-dropping moments, including Cody slamming Owens onto a ladder and both men needing medical checks after a fisherman’s buster. The climax came when Cody countered a Package Piledriver with an Alabama Slam through a ladder, ultimately retaining his title by unhooking the championship belt.
The night concluded with the men’s Royal Rumble, arguably the most star-studded in years. It started with Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and Penta. Penta had an impressive run, becoming the Iron Man for a time. The event included a humorous twist with streamer IShowSpeed replacing Akira Tozawa, only to be swiftly eliminated by Bron Breakker. As the match progressed, big names like Roman Reigns, John Cena, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins entered the fray. As well as some surprises like AJ Styles making his return and TNA World Champion, Joe Hendry making his Rumble debut. Cena, participating in his final Rumble, was a crowd favorite. The match saw intense rivalries play out, especially between Punk, Rollins, and Reigns, leading to a massive brawl. In the end, the final three were Cena, Logan Paul, and Jey Uso. Cena eliminated Paul, leaving him and Uso to battle it out. In a shocking turn, Jey Uso emerged victorious, securing his path to WrestleMania.
