Things to Look for in Browns Preseason

NFL

The Cleveland Browns are set to kick off their preseason against the Green Bay Packers this Saturday. Here are some things to look for as the Browns look to tune things up before the regular season. On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Deshaun Watson has a tendency to hold the ball longer than any other quarterback in the league. While he does play behind one of the top offensive lines, look for Watson to get the ball out of his hands quicker to develop rhythm and not allow defenses to get coverage sacks.

Defensively, the Browns play man coverage and rarely blitz the quarterback. With reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett being a year older, look for the Browns to send more blitz packages. They have the talent on the back end to hold their own in man coverage. They had a terrific combination of a four-man pass rush that created constant pressure while the back end locked down wide receivers but this year, they will have to increase their blitz rate.

The new addition of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy will be a key player to keep tabs on. Look for Jeudy to develop chemistry with Watson whenever they share the field. A former first-round pick, Jeudy came into the league known as an excellent route runner. He can provide route-running abilities alongside Amari Cooper, another excellent route runner, and Elijah Moore, a speedster in the slot. The Browns will look to find chemistry on both sides of the ball against the Packers on Saturday.
