Three Critical Keys for a Browns Triumph Over the Broncos
The Cleveland Browns travel to Denver tomorrow to take on the Broncos on Monday Night Football. The Browns' offense is coming into this matchup ranked in the bottom five in total yards per game, 292, and points scored per game, 16.9. The Browns are seeking their first set of back-to-back wins this season. Cleveland is currently one game behind the Cincinnati Bengals for third place in the AFC North.
Last week, Nick Chubb exceeded 20 carries for the first time this season. Look for Cleveland to continue increasing his workload. Chubb is at his best when running between the tackles. Jerry Jeudy faces the team that drafted him. If Cleveland allows Jeudy to run through the numbers, he could have a field day, as he excels at running intermediate routes.
Defensively, the Browns run defense is terrific when Grant Delpit plays as a box safety and plays aggressively on early downs. The Browns' defense will have to win early downs and force Denver into third-and-long situations. However, this does leave Cleveland's secondary vulnerable to giving up big plays over the top if they choose to play aggressively. This would mean Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, and Martin Emerson would have to play off-coverage and keep their assignments in front of them.
