Three Players Snubbed from This Year’s NBA All-Star Game
Each year there is always somebody snubbed from the NBA All-Star Game. It’s always a conversation to dwell on, but with so many elite players in today’s game, not all of them can be selected for this fun, fast-paced game. This season, the NBA has reverted the all-star game to its old format which is the Eastern Conference facing off against the Western Conference. Let’s look into three NBA players that were snubbed from this year’s all-star game.
Kristaps Porziņģis
The Boston Celtics are the best team in basketball for the time being and that’s all in thanks to stars Jayson Tatum Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porziņģis. Both Tatum, and Brown have been selected to represent the East, but for Porziņģis, he will miss out on another opportunity to play during this awesome contest, his first and only selection to the all-star game was back in 2018. This season, Kristaps has played in 35 games for the Celtics. In about 30 minutes on the court each night, Porziņģis is averaging around 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks. While Kristaps will be a great asset for Boston come the second half of the regular season as he was in the first half, he’s surely disappointed he didn’t make this year’s all-star game.
Domantas Sabonis
Since 2020, Kings center Domantas Sabonis has been selected to the all-star game three times. It is certainly a head-scratcher that Sabonis didn’t have his name called. Sacramento is currently the fifth seed at 28-19 in a competitively jam-packed Western Conference. The three-time all-star is also averaging close to 20 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, a steal and a block a night. Two times last month, Domantas scored 20-plus points while grabbing 20 or more rebounds. Just last week in a 103-94 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Sabonis dropped 20 points along with having 26 rebounds, and five assists. The Kings will continue to try and stay within the top half of the Western Conference, as this team made the playoffs for the first-time last season since the 2005-2006 season. Sabonis and his co-star De’Aaron Fox will try to make the best out of the rest of the season even though they were both snubbed from the all-star game.
De’Aaron Fox
With multiple times being snubbed from the all-star team, Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox finally made his first all-star game last season as an injury replacement for Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry. Once again, Fox is on the outside looking in as he will miss out on another all-star selection. This season in 41 games played, Fox has averaged around 36 minutes on the floor. De’Aaron has put up 27 points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals a night. He’s gone and scored 40 or more points on four different occasions this season. Fox and Sabonis will have to continue “lighting the beam” and make this a tough team to face come playoff time.
