Three Players That Would Fit in Unrivaled Basketball
With just five spots left on the Unrivaled Basketball roster, it is time to consider which players would make the perfect additions. Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull from the Indiana Fever, and Leonie Fiebich from the New York Liberty are three players that come to mind. These athletes bring unique skills and talent that would thrive in the competitive Unrivaled league. Here is why I believe these three would excel in Unrivaled Basketball.
Kelsey Mitchell
This year, Kelsey Mitchell established herself as one of the premier scorers in the WNBA. Averaging 19.2 points in the 2024 regular season, her quick release and accuracy from beyond the arc made her a nightmare for opposing defenses. Not only did she show remarkable efficiency in shooting, but her ability to create her own shot and drive to the basket added layers to her game. Mitchell’s experience winning Gold with the 2023 USA 3x3 Women’s AmeriCup Team gave her a taste of the playing environment, making her well-suited for the 3x3 format. Finally, Mitchell's competitive nature and leadership qualities have been evident throughout her career. Her leadership on and off the court was pivotal for the Fever's young roster, often guiding them through tight games with her experience and composure. Kelsey Mitchell's multifaceted skill set and leadership make her essential to the Indiana Fever and position her for success in Unrivaled Basketball, underscoring her continued development and on-court influence. Plus, with no player from the Indiana Fever announced yet, she has the potential to be the first, adding another milestone to her career.
Lexie Hull
There are several reasons why this Indiana Fever forward is perfect for Unrivaled Basketball. Firstly, her experience with the USA 3x3 Team. In 2022, Hull led the USA 3x3 U23 team with 63 points and won a Gold medal the following year at the 2023 Pan American Games. She also represented the USA Springfield team earlier this year in the 2024 FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series. Her experience highlights her ability to excel in the fast-paced, high-intensity 3x3 basketball environment. On top of that, Hull’s versatility during the 2024 season has been a standout feature of her game. Hull is tied at the number two spot alongside Rhyne Howard for the most steals in the postseason. She also ranks second in three-point percentage in the regular season with 44.1% behind Emily Engstler. Additionally, her defensive skills and high motor contributed to the Fever's success, particularly after the midseason Olympic break. Hull’s ability to perform under pressure and maintain a high level of play throughout the season has solidified her as a versatile and valuable player for the Fever and would make her an even more valuable asset to any team in Unrivaled Basketball.
Leonie Fiebich
Like the previous players mentioned, Leonie Fiebich is well-acquainted with 3x3 basketball, having competed in three tournaments from 2015 to 2022, including the 2022 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Belgium. During her rookie season with the New York Liberty, Fiebich made a significant impact, finishing second to Tiffany Hayes for the 2024 WNBA Sixth Player of the Year Award and earning a spot on the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie Team. Fiebich boasts a true shooting percentage of 62.4%, placing her third overall. Moreover, she broke the Liberty postseason record with a +28 plus-minus, the highest ever for a rookie, also standing as the second-best playoff plus-minus by a rookie in the history of the WNBA. Fiebich’s participation in international play and her significant contributions to the New York Liberty's 2024 WNBA Playoff run have equipped her with the skills needed for Unrivaled Basketball. Her development through these experiences has made her a highly adaptable and effective player in any scenario. Fiebich’s diverse background and proven capabilities would make her a great addition to Unrivaled Basketball.
