Three Potential Ideas for Drew McIntyre's Next Move After Clash at the Castle
Yesterday, Clash at the Castle took place in Glasgow Scotland, and it was another fantastic premium live event held by the WWE. For the main event, the Scottish warrior Drew McIntyre took on Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. With, referee Eddie Orengo knocked out ringside, and Priest pinned after a second claymore kick, there was a split-second where it seemed like McIntyre would finally have his shot at winning the championship, not only in front of a crowd but a crowd of his own Scottish people. However, CM Punk posed as a referee and only gave the Scottish warrior a two-count. With McIntyre heated, this allowed “El Campeon” to hit the challenger with a South of Heaven choke slam, as Priest got the three-count and the victory. Now after losing in front of his own people, the biggest question everyone’s wondering is what will Drew McIntyre do next?
What’s Next for Drew McIntyre?
Close Out His CM Punk Beef
I think the most obvious answer for what’s next for Drew McIntyre is to challenge CM Punk to a match at SummerSlam. Punk hasn’t been medically cleared since McIntyre tore Punk’s tricep at the Royal Rumble. This beef escalated higher at WrestleMania XL when the Scottish warrior defeated Seth “Freakin” Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk was commentating on the match, and after the two rivals started to exchange words, Punk started a beatdown on McIntyre. This allowed Damian Priest to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and easily defeat a hurt McIntyre, who held the title for five minutes and 46 seconds. With Punk screwing over the Scottish warrior for the second time, it’s finally time we see these two rivals in the ring and hash out their differences. McIntyre is certainly still chasing gold around his waist, but it would make sense if his beef with CM Punk concludes.
Try to Destroy “The Judgement Day”
This past Monday on RAW, McIntyre defeated Finn Balor, which barred “The Judgement Day” from ringside. Even with this stable that could implode any day now not at ringside, McIntyre couldn’t get the job done. Perhaps he, along with WWE’s Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will be key assets in breaking up “The Judgement Day”. While McIntyre respects Priest, he may want to prove he’s the better wrestler, and he’s willing to do anything to win his World Heavyweight Championship back, even if that means breaking apart this prolific stable one superstar at a time. If “The Judgement Day” is completely torn apart, this will give the Scottish warrior his opportunity to break through and win his title back.
Go After the Money in the Bank Contract
Over the past few years, Drew McIntyre has had a personal vendetta against the Money in the Bank event as a whole. Two of his championship reigns ended due to successful cash-ins, this past year by Damian Priest, and by The Miz in 2021. At this point after the loss in his own country, the Scottish warrior may be so desperate to achieve WWE gold in any way he can. So much so, that he decides to enter the Money in the Bank ladder match in Toronto, Ontario on July 6th. If McIntyre were to enter the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, he would certainly become one of the top options to pull the briefcase down. This would put him right back in the title conversation, and McIntyre would then be able to challenge any title holder he pleases, whether that’s Damian Priest or another superstar for the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther will be Priest’s opponent at SummerSlam, if McIntyre wins, he could cash in and make this a triple-threat match, or he may use sneaky tactics to win back his title.
