Three-Time Super Bowl Champion Defensive Tackle Becomes Highest Paid Player at His Position

NFL

Since debuting with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, defensive tackle Chris Jones has built an almost Hall of Fame resume for his illustrious career. He’s been a huge factor for this team’s defense year in and year out. After winning Super Bowl LVIII with the Chiefs 25-22 against the San Francisco 49ers, Jones became an unrestricted free agent. The now three-time Super Bowl champion defensive tackle is now making headlines once more as he just signed the highest deal in NFL history as a defensive tackle. The deal to resign with the Chiefs is for five years and 95 million dollars guaranteed. He will look to continue being one of the most dominant forces in the National Football League.

Chris Jones played three years of college ball at Mississippi State University. He declared for the NFL Draft in 2016 and was selected in the second round with the 37th overall pick. Over time, he’s been nominated to the Pro Bowl five times, he was named to the NFL’s First Team All-Pro twice, and three times to the Second Team All-Pro. Jones has achieved an NFL record with the most consecutive games with a sack. That record stands at 11 games. Chris has become a three-time Super Bowl champion with Kansas City as they defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, and LVIII and the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Last season, Chris Jones played in all 17 regular season games with the Chiefs. He recorded 30 combined tackles, 20 of those being solo tackles, while the other 10 were assisted tackles. The three-time Super Bowl champion defensive tackle had 13 tackles for loss of yardage with ten and a half sacks and four pass deflections. During the 2023 playoffs, he had four combined tackles, two solo and two assisted. Jones also had two pass deflections and a half sack. The 29-year-old defensive end will look to expand his resume, potentially with more Super Bowl championships to his name.
