Torrey Craig Stays with the Bulls After Exercising Option
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Torrey Craig has picked up his player option, worth $2.8 million to remain with the Chicago Bulls. Since going undrafted out of the University of South Carolina, Craig has had to make a name for himself in the NBA. His improvement as a player since his first few years in the league makes him an ideal candidate for being the seventh or eighth-best player on a team. With Craig’s decision to exercise his option, the Bulls will now head into free agency looking to bolster their roster even further for next season.
Through six seasons in the NBA, Torrey Craig has already been on five different NBA teams, but his growth over that time may be worth investing in. With the Denver Nuggets during his first three years in the league, Craig struggled to shoot consistently from three-point range at around 30% and the charity stripe at around 65%. However, in the past two years with the Phoenix Suns and the Chicago Bulls, he has dramatically improved those numbers to 39% and 73% respectively. This has resulted in his minutes, number of shots, points, and starts all going up.
Torrey Craig is worth the investment for his continual development as a shooter as he continues to improve as an overall player. He has shown the past couple of years, that he has the capability to be a starter. However, he might thrive more in a situation that mainly depends on him to come off the bench and give solid units as part of the second team. If Torrey Craig can continue improving his efficiency shooting the basketball then he could definitely be seen as a weapon on the offensive side in the near future.
