Trade Options at Wide Receiver for the Cowboys

NFL

Entering the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys were heavily favored to draft a wide receiver who could potentially pair with CeeDee Lamb. The Panthers selected Tetaoira McMillan, their top target, four spots ahead of Dallas, disrupting the Cowboys' draft strategy. The Bears selected Luther Burden in the second round, just a few picks ahead of the Cowboys, ensuring that luck would not be with Dallas. Now, being left out of drafting a receiver, Jerry and Stephen Jones have stated that they aren’t shy about making a “substantial trade” after the draft, and without a true weapon next to Lamb, who should the Cowboys target?

Tyreek Hill

Ever since the Dolphins announced they were not afraid of trading star player Tyreek Hill, Dallas emerged as a favorite to get him. At one point, Hill-to-Dallas was a betting favorite on different platforms. Hill's career catalog and abilities are undeniable, as he is considered a consensus top-five receiver when healthy and one of the league's fastest players. Pairing him with Lamb would make them arguably the best wide receiver duo in the NFL, as they both have multiple All-Pro selections under their belt.

George Pickens

George Pickens has elite-level talent in the NFL, but his outgoing personality has been a question for the Steelers ever since he was drafted. Pickens to Dallas has started to heat up as the Cowboys announced they were possibly looking for an AFC North receiver heading into the draft. Pickens, with the ability to make a spectacular catch out of nowhere, would certainly complement Lamb to the best of his talents. The deep ball threat, similarly to Hill, is something Dallas has not had since Michael Gallup and will open the field up for all the weapons at Dak Prescott’s disposal.

Courtland Sutton

Cowboys insider Jane Slater quickly shot down the rumor of Courtland Sutton joining the Cowboys heading into this year's draft. However, in the absence of drafting a receiver, the Dallas Cowboys may consider exploring this option. Sutton, being a big-bodied receiver, would give the Cowboys a true red zone threat, which has been an issue since the departure of Dez Bryant. Sutton, in the last year of his contract, may be cheaper than Pickens and Hill, but Dallas must consider their options after this season.
