Two-Time Pro Bowl Safety Signs to the Atlanta Falcons
On March 7th, two-time Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons was released from the Denver Broncos after eight seasons with the franchise. Now, Simmons has the opportunity to help a contending team compete for a Super Bowl championship. Well today, the 30-year-old just signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons for one-year, eight million dollars. He’ll hope to make the second half of his career mean something, since the first eight years with Denver, the team could not even reach the playoffs once.
Justin Simmons attended Boston College for four years from 2012-2015. He started all 12 games at free safety during his senior season. Simmons finished the season third on the team with 67 tackles, 49 of those being solo tackles. The two-time Pro Bowl safety was tied for 20th in the nation and second in the conference with five interceptions while being tied for first in the conference with three fumble recoveries. The Denver Broncos selected Simmons as the 98th overall pick during the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Last season, Justin Simmons played in 15 games for the Broncos. The two-time Pro Bowl tight end had 70 combined tackles, 53 of them being solo tackles, and the other 17 were assisted tackles. Plus, Simmons had two tackles for a loss of yardage, one sack, eight pass deflections, three interceptions. He must have a big 2024 season with the Falcons, and prove his worth to this franchise.
