Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Re-Signs with the Chiefs

Nick Bolton has been a vital part of the Kansas City Chiefs defense. The two-time Super Bowl champion has four interceptions and five sacks in his career. His most noteworthy play was recovering a fumble for a touchdown in Super Bowl IVII. In Super Bowl LVIII, he had a game-high 13 tackles. Last season, Bolton notched over 100 tackles for the third time in his career and a career-high three sacks.

Now it has been reported by Adam Schefter that Bolton and the Chiefs have agreed to a three-year deal worth 45 million. The former second-round pick has started in 53 of his 57 games played. The fifth-year man out of Missouri has made the playoffs every year in his career. He had nine tackles in a Super Bowl LIX loss as the Chiefs attempted to three-peat. 

Bolton brings elite tackling abilities to the table. He has great range as a linebacker to cover sideline to sideline. The two-time Super Bowl champion does get opportunities to pass-rush the quarterback, typically on blitzes. The star linebacker is excellent at crashing the “A gaps” on blitzes. Bolton can also sniff out holes against zone run concepts. He’s a versatile linebacker seeking his first Pro Bowl appearance.

The two-time Super Bowl champion has elite end-to-end speed against the run. This skill set tremendously provides support against zone-running teams. Bolton has the ability to beat blockers to the gaps on outside runs. When he drops back in coverage, Bolton is a solid man-to-man linebacker. Typically, the Chiefs love to blitz. Bolton is usually involved in the blitz packages and provides pressure to opposing quarterbacks. The Chiefs are excellent at dialing up timely blitzes, especially with the game on the line.
