Tyrone Tracy Jr. Emerges as Rookie Star

NFL

The New York Football Giants draft class has been the talk of the NFL since early April. Several of their rookie members, such as Malik Nabers, their first-round pick, have already produced record-setters on the field. Following that were Tyler Nubin and Andru Phillips. Everyone has lived up to their talk. Lately, one of the other rookie drafts who has been the talk of the team is Tyrone Tracy Jr.

Tracy was the fifth-round pick out of Purdue. He has already done great things for the team. On Sunday, he rushed for 129 yards on 18 carries. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry. He was a significant contributor to Sunday's win over the Seahawks. Tracy was in the game to fill in for Devin Singletary, who is currently out due to an injury. Tracy is not your classic running back. He looks at things differently and keeps his perspective on what is happening in the open field. The team has liked what they have seen from him since training camp.

If he keeps playing the way he has, he may get more playing time on the field. Coach Brian Daboll will monitor how he plays. Depending on how he does, Giants fans may get to see more of him in the next few games. There is even a possibility of a split between him and Singletary. Daboll wants to wait and see what happens. Tracy has earned increased opportunities for more playing time. Tracy got a better feel for what it's like to get a start on the field. In the process of that, he has earned himself more playing time. Something that not a lot of rookies get unless they show extraordinary work through training camps or during the preseason.

The Giants are starting to realize all of their great weapons on the field. The roster has more than they thought. Each of the rookies has been given the opportunity to show new ways to shine and what they can do. It will be an interesting couple of weeks to see how a lot of things play out as more of their younger rookies come into their own.
