Veteran Cornerback Heading to Houston
Ronald Darby is on the move. He won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2017. The veteran played just half the season before being available for the postseason. In the playoffs, Darby collected 18 tackles and broke up six passes. The Super Bowl champion played eight regular season games. He was able to hit a career high three interceptions in 2017. The 31-year-old has racked up eight interceptions. Now it has been reported by Adam Schefter that Darby and the Texans have agreed to a one-year deal worth two and a half million dollars.
Darby has played for five other teams, including Buffalo, Washington, Denver, Baltimore and Jacksonville. As a rookie, he recorded his highest number of passes defended of 21. Playing in Philadelphia for a three year stretch, Darby is used to playing man coverage. The veteran is also used to having safety help over the top, especially on obvious passing downs. Man coverage is played in cover one or cover two.
It can also be a hybrid of both. Cover one focuses more on being aggressive against the quarterback. Cover two relies on covering the deep halves of the field. Darby has a ton of athletic genes. He’s also a former bronze medal winner. Darby played in the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics. The former Florida State product also won a National Championship in 2013.
