What Does DJ Moore’s Four-Year $110 Million Contract Extension Mean for the Chicago Bears?

NFL

The Chicago Bears have signed wide receiver D.J. Moore to a four-year $110 million contract extension. With Chicago drafting Caleb Williams with the first overall pick and drafting Rome Odunze with the ninth overall pick, the Bears look to improve coming off a 7-10 record last season. This extension without a doubt will help the Bears in the long run because they need D.J. Moore to be the guy to get a lot of open looks from Caleb Williams. In his six-year career so far, Moore had his best season in 2023 with the Bears and he should be even better this upcoming season. Moore played all 17 games posting 1,364 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on the season.

With the schedule release, the Bears look poised for big things to come in their first regular season game on September 8th against the Tennessee Titans. As far as the other NFC North teams go, the Detroit Lions are the only team I can see having a better record than the Bears considering their postseason run last season. The Minnesota Vikings will have some problems on offense unless they figure out their quarterback situation with Sam Darnold and rookie J.J. McCarthy. Then the Green Bay Packers need their offensive line to step up in a big way as well as Josh Jacobs needing to find his groove with his new team.

The future looks bright for this Chicago Bears team and this upcoming season will be their chance to prove it. D.J. Moore signing this contract extension means that he has complete faith in Bears GM Ryan Poles to make the right choices for the franchise. The Bears are set to take on C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans in their first preseason game on August 1. How much will we get to see of D.J. Moore in this game? How many snaps will we get to see from Caleb Williams? Will we see that future quarterback and wide receiver combination of Williams and Rome Odunze? We’ll certainly find out as the Bears suit up to take on the Texans.
