What Does McLaren’s One-Two Win at the Chinese Grand Prix Mean for the Future of the Team?
What a win for McLaren! With a one-two win for the team at the Chinese Grand Prix, the future for the Papya boys has never looked bigger and brighter. The Grand Prix wrapped up providing excitement for McLaren fans with tears from the crowd. Oscar Piastri went from pole position to a first-place win, with his teammate Lando Norris in a close second. Even with Norris’ brake pedal on his car having issues, the driver ended up lifting off and coasting each remaining corner to avoid any and all unnecessary stress on the brakes. Both drivers for the team kept the same starting positions in the last heart-racing 10 laps, making this the 50th one-two for the McLaren team as a whole. This remarkable win remains under the direction of Zak Brown, the team's CEO, who claims the start of the race in Shanghai was great for both drivers, making the race a huge success.
In the 2024 Formula 1 season, the team won a collective six races and 21 podiums, finally securing the win of their first Constructors' Championship since 1998. This great accomplishment was confirmed by the final race in Abu Dhabi when the team scored 26 constructors’ points and locked in the championship.
