What Is the Giants Plan for Jaxson Dart?
The Giants made some big decisions during the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday night. The Giants’ management has been meeting its priorities as promised. Many fans are pleased about what they have done thus far. At the number three spot, they drafted Abdul Carter to help put the puzzle pieces back together for the defensive line. Then, a little bit later, the Giants decided to move up from the second round and trade up with the Texans for the number 25 spot in the first round. In this decision, they decided to take Quarterback Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. The Giants already have two quarterbacks on their roster, both veterans, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. As of now, things are beginning to look hopeful for the New York Giants this season.
Dart is so far the youngest quarterback in the draft. He started in nearly 40 games during his college career. Dart has shown tons of improvement each year. Dart broke the records of both Archie Manning and Eli Manning during his senior season at Ole Miss. This young quarterback has proven himself over and over again that he has what it takes to be the next franchise quarterback once both Wilson and Winston are done within the next two years. He has rushed for 1,498 yards and scored 12 touchdowns on the ground over the last three years. He is a decent quarterback, and if he’s pulling numbers just as both of the Mannings did, there may be a chance that he is the next franchise quarterback.
The Giants like Dart for his strong arm and his ability to drive the ball downfield. He can deliver the ball when and where it needs to be. Now, Dart will sit behind both Wilson and Winston and learn from them as a starting quarterback. The Giants need to do this before they put him on the field in the next few years. They are not going to start him right away; however, they want to show him everything that he will need to know. He may not have the most wanted traits, but everything that comes with him shows that the Giants may have a starting quarterback in the years to come.
