What These Two New Head Coaches Will Bring to Their Respective Teams

NFL

In the last week, Both Antonio Pierce and Brian Callahan have been named head coaches officially. The two former Football players now will be heading into the offseason with a lot on their plate, as they are now responsible for the rebuilds of both the Tennessee Titans and the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams have many star players who may not be around for much longer as they are either on the back end of their careers or looking to win a championship. This gives these coaches perfect opportunities to create their own identity with these teams.

Antonio Pierce

Pierce, who was the Raiders interim coach in the second half of the 2023 season won over the locker room and turned the season around coming close to a playoff berth. Many players on the Raiders even threatened that they would request a trade if Pierce were not hired as the team's official next head coach, including star defensive end Maxx Crosby who's currently one of the best at the position. Outside of having the players' support, he changed the entire culture of the team as the Raiders' defense was one of the best since the firing of former coach Josh McDaniels. Pierce will look to build on his momentum from last year and hopefully lead the Raiders to a playoff berth for only the third time since the infamous “Tuck rule” Super Bowl.

Brian Callahan

Former UCLA QB Brian Callahan was hired as the Titans' head coach on January 22nd. Very soon after Former coach Mike Vrabel was fired, Vrabel had a successful tenure with the Titans, but in the end, his unwillingness to hire coordinators from outside of the organization may have cost him his job. Callahan looks to bring new energy to the Titans, with a purely offensive mindset. The vision is for Callahan to mentor Titans QB Will Levis much like he did with Bengals QB Joe Burrow when he was the offensive coordinator there. The change from a defensive-minded coach in Vrabel to Callahan could be huge for Will Levis.
