What’s Next for Liam Lawson After His Red Bull Shake-Up?
The former Red Bull Racing driver, Liam Lawson, has most definitely had a wild ride so far in the 2025 season after he was demoted to the Racing Bulls team. Lawson is the first driver in all of Red Bull history to be demoted within the opening of a season. After only two races driving next to champion Max Verstappen, he unfortunately could not manage to score any points and was not able to get past Q1 in both qualifying sessions. The question asked: What is the latest with the rookie? What is next for his career in Formula 1?
Until further notice, Lawson will be driving with the Racing Bulls team and will fully switch places with 24-year-old Yuki Tsunoda. Lawson will be driving next to rookie Isack Hadjar, who has already scored five points in the 2025 Formula 1 season. While Lawson won almost all of the levels of junior motorsport, as well as being runner-up for the Formula 3 and Formula 2 Championships, he has seemed to slip back. The hope for Lawson is that he will relearn the pace of the Formula 1 car and regain some of his skill.
Hopefully, with practice and time, Lawson will be able to regain the skill that got him in the Red Bull seat at the very start of the season. During the Bahrain race in Qualifying Sector 1 and Sector 3, he was very close in equality with his rookie teammate. With this being said, the Racing Bulls CEO, Peter Bayer, insists that he has made significant improvements in his racing as well as his mood regarding being placed with the Racing Bulls team. For now, his spirits seem to be lifted as he is gaining back his confidence, since the switch was so sudden and happened rather quickly. In hopes of a great return to the graces of the difficult sport, Lawson has already been seen to progress back to his speed that first got him noticed. Make sure to look out for the Racing Bulls boys in the upcoming race during the Miami Grand Prix on May 4th.
