Why a Second Evolution Needs to Happen Again

WWE

There have been some reports that the WWE is planning on bringing back the Evolution Premium Live Event. If true the event would be held on the first Saturday in July. The first Evolution was held in 2018 and it is known as being the first ever all-women’s premium live event. This was a groundbreaking event for the women’s division and future stars such as Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Nikki Bella. Now, it is the right time to bring back this event because of the depth of the women’s roster, and under a new creative regime, the possibilities of new matches and storylines are some things that fans can salivate on.

The times of the women’s roster being overlooked and sexualized are gone. Now, female performers get substantial TV time, fans are invested in their storylines, and the WWE introduced new championships to bolster the women’s division. Bringing back Evolution would give the division a prominent showcase to display all their talents in an event that they deserve to be showcased in. When this event first took place it was built around the Four Horsewomen and Rousey, now stars like Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Rhea Ripley can headline this event. The NXT Women’s roster, the best women’s roster in the WWE, can be a part of this event. Stars such as Cora Jade, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia can shine as a part of this show. The WWE has a new agreement with TNA so maybe some of the performers from the Knockouts division could be a part of this show. The women’s roster is so stacked right now that with a second Evolution, the WWE can create matches and storylines that fans have never seen before.

This Premium Live Event would be beneficial for the WWE and if done well it could be a part of the PLE calendar going forward. This event does not need to be a one-off like it was in 2018, the women’s division does not deserve that. This can be another opportunity to boost morale within the division and give more female performers opportunities to shine that they could not get on another PLE. The first show was a moderate success, but with the popularity of women’s wrestling soaring, a second event could create a lasting impact on women’s wrestling.
