Will Bo Nix or Jayden Daniels Win Offensive Rookie of the Year?
With the regular season quickly coming to a close, it is time that we look ahead to who is likely to come out with some of the yearly awards. With such a tremendous draft class full of starting quarterback talent, there are several candidates for Offensive Rookie of the Year. At the start of the year, Caleb Williams was highly touted for this award, but with his struggles this year with the Bears, two new candidates emerged as frontrunners. Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix now find themselves in a two man race for the award as they both have completely changed the outlook for their franchises this season.
Jayden Daniels has started every game for the Commanders and started the season insanely hot. He has broken records for completion percentage to start a season and got the Commanders out to an outstanding 7-2 record. He has completely changed the dynamic of this offense, as the Commanders offense ranks sixth in points scored. He has accumulated over 3700 yards, scored 23 touchdowns, and only committed six turnovers all season. The turnaround this franchise has experienced from their 4-13 record last season is outstanding. Jayden Daniels now has the Commanders in a position to make a playoff run in his rookie season. All of this makes a compelling case for Jayden Daniels to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Bo Nix has a slightly different story than Jayden Daniels. Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos started out slow with a 0-2 record and only scored an average of 13 points in those games. However, as of recently, Bo Nix has started to catch fire. The Broncos have scored over 30 points on average over the past five games. Over the past six games, Bo Nix has thrown for 14 touchdowns and going 4-2 in those games. During the season, Bo Nix has accumulated nearly 3700 yards and 26 touchdowns but has committed 11 turnovers, which is nearly double the number that Jayden Daniels has committed. Both of these quarterbacks have their teams in similar positions to earn a wild card playoff spot in the upcoming playoffs and have given their franchises newfound hope because of their growth and development. So, which quarterback would you give the Offensive Rookie of the Year award to?
