Will DeVito Step Up in the Giants Week 12 Matchup Over the Buccaneers?
The Giants will be back in action this coming weekend as this Sunday they are returning from the Bye Week and will take on The Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their Week 12 matchup. It may be a tough game, especially against a 4-6 Bucs team looking to regain playoff status but nonetheless this one should be a good one. A lot has happened leading up to this game and many are looking forward to seeing what happens this weekend. Currently, the 4-6 Buccaneers are second in the NFC South Division. They are just a little behind the Atlanta Falcons who sit in first of their division with a record of 6-5.
New York is ready for their matchup against Tampa Bay and the Giants are now trying to make their lost season look better than it's been. They are 2-8 for this season so far and sit at the bottom of the NFC East by a game just under the 3-7 Dallas Cowboys. Their last game was a huge blowout that resulted in a loss in overtime to the Carolina Panthers in Germany. However, with the recent shake-up of players and the recent status of the quarterback positions things may be looking a little bit better for them. With Tommy DeVito going in for this team this weekend, they may have a possible chance of beating Tampa Bay. It all depends on how both the offensive line and defensive line play. This may be a tough game but the Giants should be able to pull through without any issues.
The Giants and the Buccaneers have played against one another since the late 70s. This series has been played 25 times between these two teams. The Giants are actually ahead with a total of 16 wins while Tampa Bay has only come out with a total of nine wins. The only other time these teams have met is once during the postseason. That was during the 2007 NFC Wild Card Round where the Giants eliminated the Buccaneers with a score of 24-14. That would be the same season New York went to Super Bowl XLII to defeat the undefeated New England Patriots.
The offensive line has Malik Nabers and WanDale Robinson who both have played their hearts out on the field. Nabers is always going for the long catches from the quarterback running up the field and trying to go for the long shot. He has a record of 605 yards altogether so far this season and he’s only played in eight games minus the few he missed out on due to the concussion he got earlier in the season. Robinson on the other hand has been doing about the game. He has played in ten games and rushed for 412 yards so far this season. He’s up there just as much as Nabers. The start of the season was great for them but they have not gotten much play action since then and it has shown on the field. Nabers had chances where he was wide open on the field to get the ball but with Daniel Jones playing during these times, he was often over and Jones chose to go in another direction going for bad plays. Robinson has been rushed time after time and so has Tyrone Tracy Jr. but these plays just don’t seem to work for the Giants. They need to get moving again like they did at the start of the season. DeVito should be able to make this happen for the offensive line on the field. He did great last year when he got the chance to play. Last season, he got the Giants three wins and now that he’s back on the field, he will be able to do more with seven games left in the regular season for the Giants. He’s got fast footwork and knows how to move the ball down the field. Hopefully, fans will get to see them pull through and score the much-needed touchdowns that the Giants haven’t gotten to have in a while.
The defensive line also needs to have their wall up this weekend. The Buccaneers have a decent offensive line but that doesn’t mean they won’t try and bulldoze over the Giants this coming weekend. Dexter Lawrence shouldn’t be the only guy doing it all. The Giants have even pulled him out of plays to make the defense work by themselves. If the Giants actually work together as one on the defense and as one offense, they will be able to play a great game and overcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
