Will Luis Arráez Win Another Batting Title in 2024?

MLB

Last season, the Minnesota Twins and the Miami Marlins agreed on a trade that would send second baseman Luis Arráez to Miami. The Marlins received a significant upgrade within their infield, and at the plate with Arráez. Miami would finish the season 84-78, making the MLB postseason for the first time since 2020. In 2022 with the Twins, Arráez won the 2022 AL Batting Title with a .316 batting average. This past season, Luis won the 2023 NL Batting Title with a .354 batting average. He will be a crucial part of this Marlins lineup in 2024, the big question is can he win his third Batting Title in a row?

During the 2022 season, the former Twins player appeared in 144 games. In 547 at-bats, Luis recorded 173 hits, eight home runs, 49 RBIs, and four stolen bases with a .316 batting average. In 2023, Arráez played in 147 games. In 574 at-bats, the two-time batting champion put up 203 hits, 10 home runs, 69 RBIs, and three stolen bases with a .354 batting average. Miami went on to clinch the sixth seed in the National League playoff picture. They would lose two games in a row against their division rival, the Philadelphia Phillies, and be eliminated from playoff contention.

While Philadelphia and the Atlanta Braves look to take the NL East title in 2024, the Marlins should certainly be in the hunt for the playoffs once again, or competing with the Phillies, and Braves for the division. Two months into the season in 2023, Arráez looked red-hot posting a .400 batting average. Luis’ batting average may have decreased the last few months of the season, but if he can keep the same trend, he did last season, he could contend with the great Ted Williams for the best batting record in a single season when Williams infamously had a .406 batting average through the 1941 season. Do you think Luis Arráez stands a chance of winning his third Batting Title?
