Will the New Orleans Pelicans Get the Job Done Against the Pistons?

NBA

The New Orleans Pelicans will host the Detroit Pistonst at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Monday night. The Pelicans have been long eliminated from playoff competition for this season sitting 14th in the West at 18-50. They have dealt with plenty of ups and downs this season with their superstar Zion Williamson missing 40 games this season. With only 14 games left on their schedule, it will not get any easier for them when they host a red-hot Detroit Pistons team on Monday night. The Pistons have been playing so well lately that they only lost by six points to the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night.

The Pelicans and Pistons game should be a good one to watch with Cade Cunningham, who has been averaging double digits lately going up against CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy III. The Pelicans might be without Williamson once again, as he has just been added to the injury reserve list for Monday's matchup. Also, Kelly Olynk has been added onto the injury list. Even though, the Pelicans are already out of the playoff race, this Pistons team is hungry is looking to showcase their talents before their first playoff appearance since the 2018-2019 NBA season.

Last season, the Pistons finished dead last in the NBA and are on track to clinch the sixth seed within the Eastern Conference under head coach BJ Bickerstaff. The Pistons, are not going to New Orleans to play around, they’re trying to blow any team out that they play. They are playing team ball and leaving it all on the court and not worrying about who is in front of them. The Pelicans are sounding like they will be short handed Monday night without their superstar and the Pistons are bringing the heat and have been winning without their star guard Jaden Ivey. This team will be scary if they have him back by the start of the playoffs. Overall, the Pistons and Pelicans both have superstars that will make the game a must see.
