Will the Rock Be in a Match at WrestleMania 41? Could Stone Cold Steve Austin Be Involved?
At Elimination Chamber 2025, John Cena shocked the world and turned heel for the first time in over 20 years. Cena turned on the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, and aligned himself with one of his biggest rivals, The Rock. This came after Cody refused The Rock’s offer to become his corporate champion, and after Cena had just won the men’s Elimination Chamber match to secure a match against Rhodes. At WrestleMania 41, John Cena will attempt to become a record-breaking 17-time WWE Champion against Cody Rhodes, but this time, will certainly not be doing it with the support of the fans. However, the question now becomes, will The Rock be getting physical at WrestleMania 41 as well?
Similarly to the Road to WrestleMania 40, this year’s Undisputed WWE Championship feud will be headlined by The Rock despite him not being in the match. Last year, it was Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes, and this year the main event will be Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena, but everything will run through The Rock once again. The key difference, though, is that at WrestleMania 40, The Rock main evented night one in a tag team match alongside Roman Reigns against Rhodes and Seth Rollins, but he is not scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania 41. This has led most fans to believe that The Rock will simply be at WrestleMania to accompany Cena, though rumors have opened up the option for the same tag team concept.
There has been speculation that Stone Cold Steve Austin may be involved in WrestleMania 41, which would be huge if true. What would be even bigger is if Steve Austin teamed with Cody Rhodes in the main event of night one against John Cena and The Rock. Many believe The Rock and Stone Cold had the greatest rivalry in the history of the WWE, and were the sole reasons as to why WWE was able to beat WCW and get back on top in the business. If the two were to step in the ring once more, and Cena was in the same match as well, it would easily be the most watched match in the history of the WWE. That is, however, a very far reach as although there have been rumors about Stone Cold getting involved, the chances of him getting physically involved are likely very low.
Given that, The Rock will probably not have a match at WrestleMania 41 despite being heavily involved in the main event storyline. He will likely play a similar role in the buildup as he did last year, but with no physical involvement at the show. The reason for this is because it seems as if The Rock’s new WWE character will be corporate based, and may revolve around his real life TKO board authority. This means that he will look for active wrestlers and manipulate them into doing his work, similarly to how he’s already done so with John Cena, perhaps forming a new corporation.
