Will These Former NXT Champions Make the Main Roster?

WWE

Last night at NXT New Year’s Evil we saw three new champions crowned in a top-notch event. On the women’s side, Giulia defeated Roxanne Perez, who dominated in 2024. For the men, former NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe. The WWE has talked about their transfer portal that’s supposed to affect all three shows in Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. With Perez and Williams ushering in a new era to NXT, will they be called up to the main roster? Perez, otherwise known as ‘The Prodigy’, a former two-time NXT Women’s Champion certainly has showcased all she can in NXT and it would only be right to perform on Raw or SmackDown. The same thing goes for Williams, a former two-time NXT Champion who has brought the house down at every single show he’s on, it’s only right he’s added to the main roster as well.

Back on the December 13th episode of NXT in 2022, Perez won her first NXT Women’s Championship after defeating Mandy Rose. She would go on to lose it against Indi Hartwell at NXT Stand & Deliver 2023. A year later at Stand & Deliver, Perez defeated Lyra Valkyria for her second NXT Women’s Championship. She is also a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion with Cora Jade. At NXT Spring Breakin’ 2024, Trick defeated Ilja Dragunov for his first NXT Championship, if Williams lost the match he would have had to leave NXT. He then lost the title to Ethan Page in a wild fatal four-way match that also involved Shawn Spears and Je’Von Evans. Williams won the title back off Page on the first episode of NXT on The CW. Trick is also a former North American Champion as well.

Both could certainly make their main roster debut at the 2025 Royal Rumble on February 1st. I would like to see Roxanne head to Monday Night Raw and Trick Williams to Friday Night SmackDown. Perez could be a key player in the women’s mid-card division and could eye the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship as the first piece of gold on the main roster. For Williams, he could possibly feud with Carmelo Hayes again, especially if it would be for something like the WWE United States Championship. Either way, at this point in time, they both deserve to be on the main roster.
