Wrestling Legend Set to Finally Main Event WrestleMania

WWE

In a moment that wrestling fans have long anticipated, CM Punk will finally main event WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. After leaving WWE in 2014 due to management disputes, Punk's dreams of headlining the grandest stage of them all seemed out of reach. His return in 2023 reignited hopes, but an unfortunate injury at the 2024 Royal Rumble kept him sidelined during WrestleMania 40. The stars have finally aligned, and now CM Punk will main event Night One of WrestleMania to face off against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a triple threat match.

The dynamic heading into this match is electric, fueled by a rich history. Punk, who played a pivotal role in the careers of both Reigns and Rollins as a member of The Shield, finds himself at the center of this three-way feud. Seth Rollins has developed an obsession with Punk, determined to thwart his dream of maineventing WrestleMania at any cost. Their animosity boiled over during the Royal Rumble when Punk eliminated both Rollins and Reigns from the match.

Adding more to the story, Punk helped Reigns and the OG Bloodline in WarGames, where they shook hands at the end of the match. Reigns was very angry about being eliminated by Punk, leading Rollins to Curb Stomp Reigns on the outside, causing him to be out of action for weeks. Reigns then cost Punk a steel cage match against Rollins in Madison Square Garden by pulling Rollins out of the cage door to settle the score. The tension escalated further when Reigns confronted Punk, who was being comforted by his longtime advocate, now Reigns’ Wiseman, Paul Heyman, inside the cage in an apparent act of jealousy.

During the contract signing between the three men on tonight’s episode of SmackDown in London, Heyman tells Punk that he will main event WrestleMania. Punk is brought to tears as he will finally live his dream, where an irate Rollins is yelling that Punk does not deserve it. Truth is: He does. Rollins will be a three-time main eventer this coming Mania, and Reigns, who already holds the record for most WrestleMania main events, is in the fray. Punk has been screwed out of the main event due to backstage politics and/or faith.

Punk was apparently supposed to mainevent WrestleMania 29 against The Rock and John Cena in 2013, but that clearly did not come to fruition. Having to face The Undertaker in the middle of the night. It also seemed he was going to main event Night One last year against Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, but his injury changed almost everything that night. Now, he will finally step into the main event spotlight that he and his fans have been waiting for. Punk is one of the most controversial superstars in professional wrestling history, but he is also one of the most influential and inspiring. This is severely long overdue, and there is no doubt in anyone’s mind that The Best in the World will make the best of his main event.
